- Staff Transport: Daily From Uyo and From Port Harcourt
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), sometimes referred to by its subtypes metal inert gas (MIG) welding or metal active gas (MAG) welding, is a welding process in which an electric arc forms between a consumable MIG wire electrode and the workpiece metal(s), which heats the workpiece metal(s), causing them to melt and join.
POSITION | Welder: Aluminium Material (1st & 2nd Class MIG Welders) |
REPORTING TO | Hull Manager and Project Manager |
TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES | Weld fabrications and support assemblies from Aluminium (metal ) products to a sequence of operation |
Weld carbon, alloy or stainless with the correct filler wires to code. | |
Ensure that the company health and safety measures are adhered to. | |
Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained within the work area | |
Ensure your weld set is cleaned every week as per company procedure. | |
Minimize the wastage of materials and consumables. | |
Work without supervision towards achieving strict deadlines | |
Complete all welding tasks on time | |
Use powered saws, hand shears, and/or chipping hammer when necessary | |
Use portable grinder, hand file, and/or scraper when necessary. | |
Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles. | |
Maintain proper equipment; repair when needed. | |
Conduct tests to check weld quality, including hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance. | |
Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions. | |
Interpret drawings and plans; carry out work accordingly. | |
REQUIREMENT - EXPERIENCE | One (1) year MIG Welding previous experience in a workshop or shipyard environment. |
Structural steel and/or aluminium welding experience. | |
Ability to read fabrication drawings. | |
Willingness to learn with a high regard for safety | |
Ability to do basic math. | |
Basic understanding of electricity. | |
Understanding of metallurgy. | |
Familiar with welding symbols. | |
