- Staff Transport: Daily From Uyo and From Port Harcourt
Gas metal arc welding (GMAW), sometimes referred to by its subtypes metal inert gas (MIG) welding or metal active gas (MAG) welding, is a welding process in which an electric arc forms between a consumable MIG wire electrode and the workpiece metal(s), which heats the workpiece metal(s), causing them to melt and join.
POSITION | Fabrication: Aluminium Material (1st & 2nd Class MIG Welders) |
REPORTING TO | Hull Manager and Project Manager |
TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES | Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and understand weld procedures. |
Experience in coaching and mentoring team members and apprentices | |
Capability to plan resources and materials effectively | |
Weld fabrications and support assemblies from metal products to a sequence of operation | |
Comply with the companies ISO-9001-2008 policy on all aspects including requisition of welding consumables. | |
Familiar with welding symbols. | |
Weld carbon, alloy or stainless with the correct filler wires to code. | |
Ensure that the company health and safety measures are adhered to. | |
Minimize the wastage of materials and consumables. | |
Work without supervision towards achieving strict deadlines | |
Work as part of a team and be able to discuss any arising issues with the appropriate engineer / Inspector or manager | |
Deal with engineers, inspectors and other employees professionally at all times | |
Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles. | |
Conduct tests to check weld quality, including hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance. | |
Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions. | |
REQUIREMENT - EXPERIENCE | 3 years MIG Welding previous experience in a workshop or shipyard environment. |
3 years of Supervisory experience in a workshop or shipyard environment | |
Structural steel and/or aluminium welding experience. | |
Ability to read fabrication drawings. | |
Willingness to learn with a high regard for safety | |
Ability to do basic maths. | |
Basic understanding of electricity. | |
Understanding of metallurgy. | |

GCE O-Levels / WAEC |
