- Staff Transport: Daily From Uyo and From Port Harcourt
A general manager is an executive who has overall responsibility for managing both the revenue and cost elements of a company and oversees most or all of the firm’s marketing and sales functions as well as the day-to-day operations of the business. The general manager also is responsible for the effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing, and decision making to attain desirable profit making results for an organization.

TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES | Overall responsible for the success and operations of the Shipyard. |
Lead the production departments and project management teams in execution of Shipbuilding/Offshore Production projects. | |
Drive Continuous improvements and productivity through business strategies, review of technical processes and systems, SOP and policies. | |
Oversee the yard’s annual budget and cost of operations. | |
Assist the Board / MD in identifying potential business and growth areas. | |
Securing of contracts and industrial network, contributing to the growth and success of the group | |
Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities and established shipyard goals. | |
Directs activities in areas of safety and personnel, production, scheduling, material handling and quality and ensures compliance with all Safety, Quality, Company and Regulatory directives in conjunction with Manager, HSSEQ. | |
Apply knowledge of marine engineering principles as applicable to vessel design, new construction and repairs of ships and ships system. | |
Directs and coordinates shipyard operations within company policies and procedures. | |
Responsible and accountable for the performance of craft supervisors, technicians, and line staff for safety, quality, cost, and scheduling. | |
Responsible for providing the quantity and quality of workers to meet schedule and budget. With assistance of Senior Manager, trains assigned craft supervisors in safety, cost control, job skills, quality and scheduling. | |
REQUIREMENT - EXPERIENCE | Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a General Manager/ Director / MD in Oil & Gas / Marine / Offshore industry. |
Able to establish quality standards by understanding Class requirements, Customer requirements and internal Shipyard workmanship standards. | |
Able to ensure ISO 9000 quality management system is maintained throughout company including internal audit program | |
In depth knowledge of all business functions associated with shipyard management. | |
Ability to understand and administer ABS Classification guidelines, USCG and SOLAS requirements. | |
Ability to apply Continuous Improvement strategies across all functions, which includes the ability to introduce needed change, create excitement for change and lead change initiatives. | |
Ability to establish clear and consistent expectations and follow up on critical tasks and hold people accountable in a tough, but fair manner. | |
Ability to motivate and connect with people with a sense of enthusiasm, passion and commitment for their work and encourage them to do their best. | |
Ability to analyze situations, react quickly, work collaboratively, apply good judgment and maintain composure in high pressure situations. Able to anticipate future events based on past experiences and work to get ahead of impending issues. | |
Considerable knowledge in all areas of shipbuilding and repair, material handling, labor, safety and product related state and federal regulations and practices. | |
REQUIREMENT – EDUCATION AND KEY CERTIFICATES | Master’s Degree or Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture or any other relevant disciplines |
